I loved the book, I only wished it had been longer. As I did see the page count and I knew when I bought it, it was a shorter book, I'm not disappointed. It was just cute enough that I wanted more.)I can so relate to many of the events. This isn't a roll on the floor funny book, but I got a few chuckles from it.
I loved the description of getting up and then not going to school. I also home-schooled my kids. lol So I KNOW what goes on there. And I've had enough animals to relate to her animal tales. Ah, the fun of a dog in the house - with 3 kids!
All in all, a fun romp through the adventures/misadventures of the author in her formative years.

Title says it all, the author reminisces with a light touch of humor, about family like in the rural northwest. A quick light read just before bed time to give you pleasant dreams.
Tracy gives us a collection of country pieces headlined by a charming romance in redneck style which lives up to the promise of the cover. As before, the writing is colorful, evocative and humorous with a touch of pathos here and there, as in "The Homestead". All in all, a pleasant and entertaining read.
This is the second book in this series that I've read, and I've enjoyed them both. The author has a great writing style and I find the stories sweet, funny and enjoyable to read. I love the length as it's been something I could pick up when I find I have a few minutes to myself throughout the day. Well done.
Mostly humorous, with a touch of sadness. I enjoyed every word of this semi-memoir. My only complaint is that it wasn’t nearly long enough!
I loved all the stories but am very sad about the kitten dying.. The author wrote about country life like she had lived in various parts of the country, giving the same type of spin as somebody for other parts of the country might refer to their part of the country.
Tracy hits another homer with this one!
This book contains five chapters of humorous stories, mostly centered around the author's country childhood. Some of my favorite quotes come from the first chapter "Bedogged."
-"Dad had a special breed in mind, having owned a few dogs before...But after that's where the dog-owning-pleasure...gets a little iffy."
-"there's not much you can do after you've been suckered..."
-"the hounds are always pulling antics worthy of either complete shock or a serious breakdown."
Not everybody grows up on a small farmlett. Most should be able to identify with the best, most humorous, or most embarrassing moments that childhood brought us.
Heartwarming and humorous, "A Proper Fish Story" kept me entertained to the last. For those who liked "Steering Gone Awry", this is a great follow up!
I truly enjoyed reading this book! I felt like I was "along for the ride" throughout each adventure! Highly recommended for a friendly afternoon read that you can't put down.
